Welcome to Mindful Birthing-Green Bay!
"Birth is not only about making babies. Birth is about making mothers- strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength." - Barbara Katz Rothman
The birth of your child should be an experience you will always cherish. I provide childbirth education classes and birth doula services in the Green Bay, Appleton, Door County, and surrounding areas. I strongly believe that education and pregnancy/labor support from your birth team; which can include your husband or partner, doctor or midwife, and doula, is crucial for having a wonderful birth experience.
Studies show that women who are supported by a doula have the following outcomes:
- Labors are 25% shorter
- There are fewer complications
- Cesarean rates are reduced by 50%
- There is 40% less need for pitocin to speed up labor
- Need for forceps is reduced by 40%
- Women request 30% less pain medication and 60% fewer epidurals
- Greater satisfaction with their birth experience
- More positive assessments of their babies
- Less postpartum depression

Birth Doula, Perinatal Educator, Childbirth Educator & Student Midwife
I'm Amber Micolichek and I am a Perinatal Educator and Birth Doula through MMCI (Midwest Maternal Child Institute), certified Birth Doula (CD(DONA)) with DONA International, and Natural Childbirth Educator trained through ICEA (International Childbirth Education Association), Reiki Practitioner, and I am a second year Certified Professional Midwifery student (CPM/LM) at Midwest Maternal Child Institute.
I became interested in pregnancy and birthing after participating in a friend's birth experience because it made me think that there had to be another way to birth babies; after all our bodies are meant to birth the babies we grow. I proceeded to spend the summer of 2011 researching birth cross-culturally from an Anthropological lens through an independent study at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay while completing my undergraduate degree. After this amazing research, I made the decision to continue my education and career in midwifery. I began by training as a Birth Doula through DONA International and followed up with childbirth education training through ICEA. After two years of doula work I found a midwifery education program that fit my ideals and I proceeded with my midwifery studies. I am on track to complete the program in 2017.
I am very passionate about healthy pregnancy and birthing and was blessed with a beautiful hospital birth on Thanksgiving (2012) with the help of my husband and midwife to our beautiful 9lb 3oz daughter ('Eowyn) and an empowering home birth in July, 2015 with the support of my husband, midwife, and doula to a wonderful 8lb, 12oz daughter (Tauriel). ___________________________________________
